In addition to the teachers mentioned above, every year SOLO will host in-depth masterclasses featuring important international musicians with extensive experience in orchestral and solo performance.

The Masterclasses will be open to students from all Conservatories in the Region, who will participate as auditors.

The Advanced Training Course includes a total of 80 hours of training per year for each student, divided as follows:

  • In-person lessons for each instrument class, where students will actively participate by performing repertoire pieces and passively by listening to other participants’ lessons.
  • Online lectures focused on the exegesis of pieces and the historical interpretative context of major works. Each lecture will be specifically tailored for each instrument class, with references to dedicated and significant pieces and repertoires.
  • Masterclasses with internationally renowned concert performers, where students will have the opportunity to play alongside leading professionals, accompanied by pianists, and attend other lessons as auditors.
The course is limited to a maximum of 50 participants.

Applicants must hold a diploma issued by Conservatories of Music or other schools and must not have exceeded the age of 35 at the time of the exam.

The equivalence of the qualifications presented by candidates will be subject to the unquestionable judgment of the Examination Committee.

Students enrolled at the G.B. Martini Conservatory of Bologna will enjoy preferential admission, at the sole discretion of the teaching staff.

Applications must be submitted using the appropriate form at the bottom of the page.

Admission tests will follow, during which candidates must present approximately 15 minutes of music with a varied repertoire in style and era, drawn from different solo pieces, which will be communicated in advance by the Examination Committee.

A pianist will be provided for the admission test. Candidates wishing to use their own trusted pianist must notify the Committee in advance.

The Course was created through a partnership between three major regional institutions:

  • University of Bologna – Department of Arts
  • Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna Foundation
  • Carlo and Guglielmo Andreoli School of Music Foundation in Mirandola (MO)

The University oversees scientific coordination and appoints university professors for lectures; the Accademia provides the premises for lessons (including the prestigious Mozart Hall), pianos, and its valuable historical archive; the Andreoli Foundation ensures technical and organizational support.
