Born in Bologna, with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, a course of unique Advanced Training Course in the national scene, with a pool of teachers chosen among the most qualified and established concert players at international level.
SOLO (this is the name of the course) is aimed at talented young soloists. The course, recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), focuses on five instruments: violin, cello, flute, oboe and clarinet. Courses will be held by five high-level professors, among the most appreciated in the international arena: Andrea Griminelli, flautist and SOLO Artistic Director , Oleksandr Semchuk, violinist, Alessandro Carbonare, clarinet, Francesco Di Rosa, oboe, and Giovanni Gnocchi, cello.
SOLO is the result of a partnership between three important regional institutions: the University of Bologna – Department of Arts, the Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna Fondazione and the Fondazione Scuola di Musica Carlo and Guglielmo Andreoli of Mirandola (MO). The University will take care of scientific coordination, assigning university professors of lectures magistralis; the Academy will provide the premises for the lessons (starting from the prestigious Mozart Room), the pianos and its precious historical archive; the Fondazione Scuola di Musica Andreoli will guarantee technical and organizational assistance.

SOLO was born precisely to remedy this difficulty, launching young people with excellent talent, through an ad hoc training ensured by the best soloists and with parallel and integrated studies».
The career of the soloist instrumentalist will thus be enhanced, with new skills and incentives to become “his own manager”, projecting his image on the national and international territory. In short, young people are better prepared and with better tools to face todays’ work world”.
“The Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna Fondazione – adds the president, Loris Azzaroni – will keep the ancient motto wanted in 1666 by its founder, Vincenzo Maria Carrati: “Unitate melos”, that is, today, “Music in sharing”. The course, thanks to its partners, will relive the spirit of sharing music that was the foundation of the oldest secular music institution in the city and among the oldest in Europe. And it is precisely with this perspective that courses, taught by internationally renowned artists, will revive that “European spirit” which was brought to the noblest and highest levels by Father Martini, tutelary deity of the Academy”.
“During the Course – explains the director of the Fondazione Andreoli, Maestro Mirco Besutti – the potential of the musician will be developped all-around, to better train the new soloists of tomorrow”. «The students – the teacher and artistic director, Maestro Andrea Griminelli – will be a maximum of 50 (up to 10 for each instrumental class), selected after an admission test. There will be 8 individual lessons and 10 hours of theoretical lessons on the history of interpretation, and the students will also enjoy additional hours of masterclasses with internationally renowned concert teachers. Young people will also be able to experiment and test the skills they have acquired during public concerts.”
The cost of the course is 1,000 (one thousand) euros per year, to be paid after the positive outcome of the admission test.
Applications for admission to the course must be submitted online at www.solomusic.it, by December 3rd, 2021.
Afterwards, the admission test will be carried out, during which the candidate (for the flute, violin, cello, clarinet and oboe courses) will have to present 15 minutes of music.
In the selection process, priority will be given to graduates. Non-graduates will be admitted in case of vacancies.
The lessons and the admission exam will take place at the Regia Accademia Filarmonica, in via Guerrazzi, 13, in Bologna.
The Green Pass is required for entrance to the Accademia.
